FAQS

Where do you find your materials?

All Studio52 pieces are hand made in the inner west of Sydney by Al Breen and created from materials found locally at waste rehoming centres, bicycle shops and tyre service centres. Using interesting and unusual materials such as rubber and hard plastic, we are able to produce truly unique pieces, and extend the life of materials that can’t be recycled.

Why rubber and plastic?

In the USA alone, it’s estimated that around 10 million bicycle inner tubes become landfill each year, and their decomposition will take several hundred years. Any many plastics won’t and sometimes can’t ever be recycled At Studio52 we have risen to this challenge, to not only divert this waste and prolong its life, but to transform these difficult materials into unique edgy jewellery.

Who is the designer behind Studio52?

Hi there! I’m Al, the designer and maker of Studio52. My hand made repurposed jewellery has always received compliments from friends and strangers so it was a natural progression and happy decision to start creating my designs professionally and offer a range of really outstanding statement jewellery for a wider customer base. With a focus on repurposing materials that are not only unusual and fun to wear, but also saved before their end of life as industrial waste, I have focussed on making unique statement jewellery pieces using recycled rubber and other industrial materials not normally known as jewellery into .. wearable art! I design and create all Studio52 jewellery from my studio in the beautiful and vibrant inner west of Sydney, Australia.
